The Maverick County Sheriff’s Department arrested a male subject
identified as 29 year old Juan Diaz for reckless driving on Sunday, July 19.
Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber reported that a deputy out patrolling observed a blue 1989 Chevrolet Camaro driving reckless as he was turning left from Delcrest Dr. onto S. Veterans Boulevard.
Deputy then observed the vehicle turning into Andy’s Car Wash at an unsafe speed in which it continued to drive reckless as it was burning out causing it to lose control.
The Deputy then approached the vehicle where contact was made with a male driver identified Juan Diaz (29yrs).
Diaz was then placed under arrest for Reckless Driving, due to him driving in a willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property.
A safety pat down search was then conducted on Diaz in which Deputies located a small bag with two pills (Alprazolam 0.5 mg) inside a cigarette box that Diaz had inside his left front pocket. Diaz was also charged for Possession of Dangerous Drug. Diaz was then transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing. Said vehicle was inventoried and impounded by Baldes Wrecker Service. The two pills were bagged and tagged and placed it in the patrol evidence locker.
