Texas Governor Greg Abbott has stated that there is no shutdown coming.
At this point in time Covid-19 cases continue on the rise across the State including in Maverick County where we have surpassed 1,000 cases, Gov. Abbott on Thursday said he will not shutdown the State.
Last week, Abbott had made a comment that if the number of Covid-19 cases continued on the rise he would strongly consider shutting everything down.
The cases have been on the rise but Gov. Abbott in a television interview on Thursday stressed that the “rumors” of a shutdown were not true. “Let me tell you, there is no shutdown coming,” emphasized Abbott. “People are panicking, thinking I’m about to shut down Texas again, The answer is no. That is not the goal. I’ve been abundantly clear.”
Governor Abbott did point out that in recent weeks he has taken certain measures to slow the spread of the Virus. That includes a State mask mandate, closing down bar establishments, and other measures across the state.
Abbott further added that these restrictionary measures will need a few weeks to show results.
