Subjects detained with 6 lbs of methamphetamine

Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber reported that two individuals were detained at the U.S. Port of Entry with approximately 6.6 lbs of Methamphetamine.

Sheriff Schmerber stated that deputies were dispatched to the Eagle Pass Port of Entry where they made contact with Customs Agents who had two individuals detained.

Contact was then made with a female subject identified Lorna Sofia Contreras (21 YO) and Angel Luis Lopez (21 YO) who were detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agents.

Further investigation revealed both subjects were attempting to cross into the United States from Mexico in a black 2014 Nissan Altima when U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agents were able to located 3.48 Kilograms (6.6 lbs) of Methamphetamine inside the vehicle.

Both subjects were placed under arrest and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for further process.

The Vehicle was impounded to the Maverick County Sheriff Department.
