A cafeteria employee working at the Pete Gallego Elementary summer food program tested positive for COVID-19.
The Eagle Pass Independent School District did confirm the positive case.
EPISD Superintendent Samuel Mijares reported that they closed down the Pete Gallego elementary school cafeteria lunch program and Kirchner Elementary as well.
Kirchner elementary was closed down because they receive food from Pete Gallego Elementary.
“We closed down both campuses as a precautionary measure. We will continue to monitor the situation and continue following all health guidelines,” said Mijares.
This is the second EPISD cafeteria employee who has tested positive for COVID-19.
Back in the month of May, a Rosita Valley Elementary school cafeteria worker also tested positive for COVID-19.
EPISD shut that program down and all employees were tested.
No one else tested positive.
