Food distribution to be held / elderly can call to place order starting Friday

Local public officials announced that the South Texas Food Bank will be coming into the community on Thursday, June 18 to distribute food commodities.

The food distribution event is scheduled to be held at the Eagle Pass Independent School District Student Activities Center beginning at 9:30 am.

Maverick County Judge David Saucedo and Eagle Pass Mayor Luis Sifuentes announced that further details will be given out in the coming days.

Local officials along with the South Texas Food Bank have held several food distribution events in our community as part of the COVID-19 Pandemic response.

Back on May 17, they held an event that served over 2,500 families who received much needed food commodities.

Maverick County and the City of Eagle Pass also gave out over 13,000 face masks and worked into the late night hours personally delivering food packages to over 500 community senior citizens.

Elderly residents 70 years and older will be able to once again call in and request a food care package.

The phone number where they can call is EOC (830) 421-5122. They can start calling in starting on Friday, June 12.
