Mexican National arrested for possession of a controlled substance at Eagle Pass POE

The Maverick County Sheriff’s Department reported the arrest of
a 48-year-old Mexican National for possession of a controlled substance at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry on Saturday, May 9th.

Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber reported that Deputies were dispatched to Port of Entry No. 2 in regard to CBP Agents detaining a male subject who was identified as Luis Gerardo Garcia Gutierrez (48 YOA) for possession of controlled substance.

US CBP Agents stated a Charter Bus driven by Garcia-Gutierrez was transferred to secondary inspection, where CBP Agents located 14.48 Kilograms of Heroin and 11.48 Kilograms of cocaine in a hidden compartment.

Garcia Gutierrez was then placed under arrest and transported to Tom Bowles Detention Center for further processing.
