Officials on both sides of the US/Mexico Border in Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras were caught off guard early afternoon on Thursday, March 19, 2020 when several news organizations from both sides of the border released a report that the International Bridges would be closing due to precautions being enacted by the Federal Government.
Later that evening after reaching out to creditable sources from the offices of the Mayors of Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras, it was determined that there are no indications of a shutdown on March 20, 2020. The sources also confirmed that there has been no mobilization by the Federal Government or CBP to close the borders.
There has not been any confirmed indications as to what an earlier tweet by a reporter with CBS news stated would occur. Once verification by CBP and Federal Officials is made then we can report that the International Bridges will close or any action will be taken.
