30 year old Michelle Mendez who was struck be a vehicle in Maverick County on December 15 has died.
Mendez was one of three people who were hit by a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Leroy Herrera.
Mendez and 21-year-old Fabian Duenes were transported to a San Antonio hospital after the tragic incident.
On Sunday, December 22, Michelle Mendez succumbed to her injuries.
The tragic motor vehicle accident that took the life of 30 year old Mendez and injured two others occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 15 when a vehicle rolled over and struck them.
Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber reported that on Sunday, 12/15/2019 at approximately 6:07 AM, Maverick County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to the
intersection of Boulder Ridge and Calle Nicolas in regard to a motor vehicle accident.
Investigations revealed that a
2008 Silver Hyundai Tiburon was traveling southbound on Boulder Ridge at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle struck a private residential concrete wall causing the vehicle to roll over.

property near the street. The driver was identified as 24 year old Leroy Herrera, the three pedestrians were
identified as 29 year old Michelle Mendez, 23 year old Jennifer Mendez and 21 year old Fabian Duenes.
All subjects were transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for further medical attention.
Mendez and Fabian Duenez were shortly transported by AIR-EVAC
to San Antonio in critical condition.
The case is
under investigation for Driving While Intoxicated and Intoxication Assault.
Herrera could possibly face further charges for the death of 30 year old Mendez.
