Mayor Ramsey English Cantu addresses Texas Democratic Party’s decision of ineligibility

Eagle Pass Mayor and candidate for Texas House District 74 State Representative Ramsey E. Cantu addressed the recent Ineligibility determination by Texas Democratic Chairperson Gilbert Hinojosa.

Mayor Cantu posted a video online in which he addresses the decision and alleges that one of his opponents, Heriberto Morales claims of his Ineligibility and that the determination set forth by Hinojosa is wrong as well.

Mayor Cantu added that he will seek all legal recourse available to him to clear things up and ultimately get his name back on the March 2020 Democratic Party Primary election after Morales asked for an inquiry into Cantu’s eligibility status.

Cantu can move forward with legal action to clarify the situation and is afforded the right to do so.

In this case, time could be of the essence as all names of candidates running in the March electoral process need to be submitted to the Texas Secretary of State by December 27, 2019.

Mayor Cantu also addressed his campaign.

“ We are still in this race…
I’m pursuing legal action
and will be with in time to
move forward. My campaign continues,” concluded Cantu.
