Fourteen reported killed in shootout in Villa Union, Coahuila

Mexican Authorities have reported that 14 people were killed in a shootout in the city of Villa Union Coahuila about an hour’s drive away from Eagle Pass on Saturday, November 30, 2019.

Media reports out of Mexico state that the gun battle between Mexican Federal security forces and a group of cartel gunmen took place in the small town of close to 6,000 people.

Coahuila state Gov. Miguel Angel Riquelme has reported that four Police officers were killed in the gun fight.

Riquelme stated that the tragic incident began when a group of armed men traveled into the small community and began attacking local government offices, prompting state and federal forces to intervene.

Reports further state that at least 10 suspected cartel members belonging to El Cartel del Noreste were killed in the gun battle.
