Two male juveniles from the Winter Garden area have pleaded guilty of the murder of an 18-year-old Carrizo Springs resident identified as Elian Grimaldo.
The brutal murder occurred back in January in an area along a Farm Market Rd in Crystal City, TX.
Grimaldo was shot once in the head and left inside a truck where law enforcement officials found him after receiving a call from one of the defendants.
The juveniles of the ages 16 and 17 years old agreed to plea bargain their murder charges and have been sentenced by 293rd Judicial District Judge Maribel Flores and 365th Judicial District Judge Amado Abascal.
The 16 year old male juvenile was sentenced by Judge Abascal to 20 years imprisonment for his role in the Zavala County murder at the beginning of the year.
He will first serve up to three years in the Texas Juvenile Justice Department before he is transferred to a Texas State Corrections facility.
The 17-year-old juvenile has agreed to spend 30 years in State Prison for his role in the murder. He was remanded to the Texas Juvenile Justice Department for at least two years before being transferred to a Texas State Corrections facility by Judge Maribel Flores.
293rd District Attorney Roberto Serna and his Assistant DA’s, and law enforcement officials including the Texas Rangers Office, Zavala County Sheriff’s Department, and other agencies have been working tirelessly on this case since January of this year.
“ Justice is now served,” stated Serna.
