A motor vehicle accident between a United States Border Patrol Agent and private citizen vehicles occurred on Saturday, September 7.
Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber reported that at approximately 10:40 pm deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident on U.S. Hwy 277 North approximately 2 miles past Elm Creek.
Upon arriving at the scene Deputies made contact with 4 individuals including a Border Patrol Agent who had been involved in an accident.
Deputies summoned the Eagle Pass Fire Department to the scene.
Sheriff Schmerber states that preliminary investigations revealed a Border Patrol Ford F250 truck was traveling Northbound on U.S. Hwy 277 North and veered to the right
The Border Patrol attempted to make a left turn into a ranch and struck a 2006 Black Kia Soul driven by Elvia Guerrero (26 y.o.a) that was
also traveling Northbound.
The passengers of the Kia were identified as Elena Guerrero (22 y.o.a) and Lucy Thelma Rodriguez (51 y.o.a).
All three occupants of the Kia were transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for further
evaluation and treatment.
Two of the females taken to the hospital were shortly transported
by AIR-EVAC to San Antonio in critical but stable condition.
