Man escapes death after vehicle catches fire

A Maverick County man was able to escape death after he crashed his vehicle and it caught on fire on Tuesday, March 18, 2019.

Maverick County Sheriff Deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident against a fixed object on the 400 block of Chuck Wagon Road on Tuesday evening and arrived to find a Lincoln MKZ engulfed in flames.

The Sheriff Deputies quickly got off their vehicles to check to see if anyone was inside the burning vehicle.

Luckily they found a male adult later identified as Daniel Opakeah Flores Gonzalez laying on the ground about 50 feet away from the wrecked vehicle.

Gonzalez is reported to have displayed signs of intoxication and complained of pains on his sides.

Eagle Pass Fire Department Emergency Medical Service Personnel was summoned to the scene and Mr. Gonzalez was transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for further treatment.
