Press Release- CBP Officers Intercept 1,395.5 Pounds of Marijuana at the Eagle Pass, Texas Import Lot

EAGLE PASS, TEXAS –U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers kept sharp focus on border security efforts, seizing a total of 1,395.5 pounds of marijuana in a single enforcement action at the Eagle Pass, Texas Import Lot.

“Securing the cargo environment is a critical mission for CBP and this weekend’s significant marijuana seizure underscores the need for our officers to stay ever-vigilant and aware of the narcotics threat while facilitating lawful commerce,” said Port Director Paul Del Rincon, Eagle Pass Port of Entry.

The seizure occurred on Saturday, March, 9 when CBP officers utilizing canines and a non-intrusive imaging system discovered 100 packages containing a total of 1,395.5 pounds of marijuana within an International tractor hauling a shipment of super sacks of polypropylene. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $279,102.

CBP officers seized the narcotics. The case remains under investigation by Homeland Security Investigations special agents.
