During the first 40 days of 2019, the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department has arrested 10 individuals for drug possession.

According to Sheriff Department Arrest Reports, of those arrests, 5 of them have been for possession of a Controlled Substance and 5 for possession of Marijuana.

Of those arrested 7 were adult males and 3 were adult females.

From January 1, 2018, to February 20, 2019, the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department has arrested 82 people for a drug offense,

Of those arrests 52 % or 43 have been for possession of Marijuana while 48 % have been for possession of a controlled substance.

In recent years the number of arrests for possession of a controlled substance has begun to increase.

This is a concern to law enforcement officials due to the increased dangers with the usage of those type of narcotics.

Controlled substances often have a high potential for abuse which may lead to severe psychological or physical dependence.
