The Eagle Pass Independent School District heard a presentation of the 2017-2018 Texas Academic Performance Report from School Improvement, Curriculum & Accountability Director Rene Martinez during their recent meeting.
Among the most notable findings/highlights in the report is that the EPISD received a B accountability rating.
Martinez presented the assessment scores from each grade level including an overall view of the entire district as compared to state averages.
“The focus of the report is on the educational growth of the students from year to year,” said Martinez. “For example EPISD 3rd grade students had a STAAR Performance Rate of 71 % in 2017 but were rated at 77% in 2018 as 4th graders a 6 % increase.”
A review of the entire Academic report shows that these type of increases can be seen throughout every grade level.
“This tracks the students from year to year,” added Martinez. “If you notice during 2018 each grade level is at the state level or above the average.”
Martinez and the EPISD concurred that the report’s showing of educational improvement from grade level to grade level is to be lauded.
“Overall you can see when you follow the groups there is a positive change.” added Martinez. “There is growth and that’s what the state is looking at.”
