Twelve year old charged with Capital Murder in Uvalde

A 12-year-old child has been charged in connection to the murder of a man during a home invasion in Uvalde, Texas.

Information out of Uvalde states that the incident occurred on Wednesday, January, 24 at approximately 7:55 p.m. when a woman called the Uvalde Police 911 system to report a possible break-in and shooting at a home on the 600 block of Boone Street.

Police officers responded to the scene and entered the residence. Upon walking into the home’s living room area they discovered a male individual on the floor bleeding from a gunshot wound to the cranial area.

Uvalde Emergency Medical Service was summoned to the scene and provided emergency treatment to a 24 -year old male who was quickly transported to Uvalde Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

Sadly the young man was pronounced dead at 8:43 p.m.

Uvalde Police officers secured the scene and gathered information from numerous witnesses who told them they had seen an individual dressed in black run away from the home.

Law enforcement authorities including Uvalde Police along with the Texas Department of Public Safety Ranger’s Office mounted a search and detained a person of interest.

Officials put out a statement reporting that they have charged a 12-year-old in the man’s death.

The minor is being held on Capital Murder charges at the Jourdanton Juvenile Detention Center.
