Sheriff’s Dept arrests DPS officer for causing accident and DWI

Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber reports that Texas Department of Public Safety DPS officer Ebenezar Oyenola was arrested last night after allegedly causing an accident and on DWI charges.

On Saturday, September 29, 2018, 3:30AM, Deputies responded to Rosita Valley and Tierra Soberana in regards to a motor vehicle accident. Contact was made with driver identified as Mario Contreras (47 yoa) of a 1999 White Grand Marquis and the driver of a 2013 Gray Toyota Camry who was identified as Ebenezer Oyenola (26 yoa).
A preliminary investigation revealed the Grand Marquis was turning onto FM 1021 from Tierra Soberana when it was then struck by the Toyota Camry who was traveling Eastbound on FM1021 and disregarded the red light causing to strike the Grand Marquis. The driver of the Grand Marquis was transported to Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for further evaluation.
Driver of the Toyota Camry displayed signs of intoxication in which he admitted of drinking.

He was then placed under arrest and transported to Tom Bowles Dentention Center.
