At approximately 10:30 am, Sunday, September 2, 2018 an Emergency call came into 911 of gunshot wound injuries being reported in the brush area near FM 1917.
Preliminary reports state that a DHS Agent shot an undocumented immigrant in the area.
Upon arrival Maverick County Sheriff’s Dept, Highway Patrol and DHS officials, secured the area, triaged the patient and airlifted the injured individual to San Antonio. Information about his condition is unknown.
Update: Press Release by CBP- On Sept. 2, at approximately 9:55 a.m., a U.S. Border Patrol agent assigned to the Eagle Pass, Texas, Station, attempted to arrest a subject near the Rio Grande River. The subject, a 48-year-old Honduran man, assaulted the agent, who shot the subject with his service-issued weapon. The subject was transported to a San Antonio Hospital, for treatment of a gunshot wound to the arm, and was released later that afternoon. Following his release from the hospital, the subject was transported to Eagle Pass South Border Patrol Station for processing according to CBP guidelines. The Honduran Consulate was notified. The agent involved in the incident was unharmed and, by standard policy is currently on administrative leave. The FBI, the DHS Office of Inspector General and CBP’s Office of Professional Responsibility all responded to investigate.”
