Middle Rio Grande Development council meets and Elects New Board of Directors

The Middle Rio Grande Development Council(MRGDC) held their Annual Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday, August, 21 in Eagle Pass, Texas.

During the course of the meeting out-going MRGDC President Mayor Cantu presented Dimmitt County Judge Frank Ponce who represented the MRGDC nominating committee.

Judge Ponce presented a list of individuals being nominated to the 2018/2019 MRGDC Board Officers.

MRGDC President put the nominations up for a vote and they were approved unanimously.

The new MRGDC Board Officers include President, Kinney County Henry Garcia, 1st Vice President Maverick County Judge David R. Saucedo, 2nd Vice President Dimmitt County Judge Frank Ponce, 3rd Vice President Zavala County Judge Joe Luna, and Secretary / Treasurer Uvalde County Judge William R. Mitchell

Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey E. Cantu welcomed the new board and will be replaced after serving as the MRGDC President for two years.

MRGDC Board President Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey E. Cantu presented the new Board and thanked his peers for allowing him the honor to serve and represent the Middle Rio Grande Development Council as a member and President. “It’s been an honor and pleasure to serve with you,” said Cantu.

The Middle Rio Grande Development Council is a voluntary regional council of governments composed of nine counties, cities and public school districts within these nine counties, including Maverick County, Val Verde County, Dimmit County, Zavala County, Kinney County, Edwards County, Uvalde County, Real County, and La Salle County.
