The Eagle Pass Bridge System 2018 Monthly Activity report shows an overall increase of 2. 4 percent for the month of June as compared to the same time period in 2017. During the month of June 2018, there were 302,053 total crossings as compared to the same time period in 2017 which reported 290,649 for an increased difference of 11,404 more crossings or +2.4 %.
The Bridge system increase is in only 2 of the 5 crossing traffic categories including Cars and Pickups (242,053 or + 8.3 %), and Buses (358 or + 22.1 %).
The three categories that showed a decrease were Trucks ( 18 wheelers) going from 14,883 in 2017 to 13, 987 in 2018 a decrease of 893 or – 6 %, motorcycles from 417 in 2017 to 369 in 2018 a drop of 48 or – 11 %, and pedestrians from 51,607 in 2017 to 45,286 a decrease of 6,321 less or a – 12 % decrease.
During the 2018 fiscal year crossing totals has seen a 2.4 % (64,947) increase as compared to 2017
Up to now there have been a total of 2,674,787 total crossings as compared to 2017 which had 2,609,840 during the same time period. Year to Date all categories have seen an increase in crossings except motorcycle crossing which has decreased going from 3,618 in 2017 to 3,322 in 2018 or (296 less) a – 8 % decrease.
Year to Date Car and Pickup crossings have increased by 3 % going from 1,973,265 in 2017 to 2,026,542 or 53,277 more car and pickup crossings during this year than in 2017.
The City of Eagle Pass continues working with the Eagle Pass Bridge System to better its service to those people who use our bridges to cross in and out of Mexico.
New processes implemented at the bridge system under newly hired Port Director Paul Del Rincon have certainly helped expedite vehicular crossing more efficiently.
