Maverick County Commissioners Court approved to offer County Taxpayers a 3-2-1% discount program for early payment of their 2018/2019 Ad Valorem property taxes at their meeting held on Monday, August 13.
Maverick County Judge David Saucedo opened up the agenda item proposing the possible adoption of a 3-2-1% Ad Valorem Property Taxes discount program for 2018/2019.
Saucedo explained that the 3-2-1% discount program would give County taxpayers a 3% discount off their property taxes if they paid them during the month of October, a 2% discount if they paid their taxes during November, and a 1% discount if paid during December.
Judge Saucedo added that the 3-2-1 discount program provides County taxpayers an incentive to pay their ad valorem taxes early and assist the county in assuring the funds used for their yearly budget cycle.
Precinct 4 Commissioner Roberto Ruiz raised concerns on the proposed implementation of the discount program.
“Having a 3-2-1 % discount gives the County an opportunity to assist the taxpayer in some way,” said Judge Saucedo.
The 3-2-1% discount program offers County taxpayers savings on their Ad Valorem property tax payments while bringing revenues to the County general fund to operate their yearly budget.
Commissioners Court approved the 3-2-1% discount program with Commissioner Ruiz abstaining from the vote.
