Statistics from USDA show stagnation in job opportunity in Maverick County

Statistical reports from the United States Department of Agriculture show that the labor force in Maverick County for the past ten years (2007 -2017) has grown by 2 % per year average and jobs available increased an average of 2 % per year as well.

During 2007 the civilian labor force in Maverick County was reported to be 19, 826 with 17,576 of them employed and 2,250 or an 11.3 % unemployment rate.

In 2008 there were 20,816 in the job force with 18,619 working and 2,197 or 10.6 % unemployed.

During 2009 there were 22,722 job force with 19,467 working and 3,255 or 14.3 % unemployed.

In 2010 there were 23,525 in the job force with 19,959 working and 3,566 or 15.2 % unemployed.

During 2011 the labor force total was 23,914 with 20,560 working and 3,354 or 14 % unemployed.

During 2012 there were 23,373 people in the labor force with 20,445 working and 2,928 or 12.5 % unemployed.

In 2013 there were 23,667 in the labor force with 20,712 working and 2,955 or 12.5 % unemployed.

During 2014 there were 23,397 people in the labor force with 20,836 working and 2,561 or 10.9 % unemployed.

In 2015 the local job force had 23,622 people with 21,109 working and 2,513 or 11 % unemployed.

During 2016 there were 24,190 people in the job force with 21,474 working and 2,716 or 11.2 % unemployed.

During 2017 the state reported that there were 23,860 people in the local labor force with 21,651 working and 2,209 or 9.3 % unemployed.

The number of people in the workforce increased by 23 % from 2007 (17,576) to ( 21,651) in 2017 or an average of 2.1 % per year.

In a span of ten years (2007-2017) local jobs have increased by 20.3% or 4,034 jobs an average of 2 % or 403 jobs per year from 2007 to 2017.

Statistically, 1 job has been added per every 142 people living in Maverick County per year (average) using the different population scales by year.

The average yearly unemployment rate during this ten years has been at 10.3%.
