Early voting ends in Emergency Election

Early Voting came to a close Friday July, 27 for the emergency special election to decide the District 19 Texas Senator position.

Locally, there was a total of 886 votes cast. Across the District numbers were significantly lower than expected in most counties.

Today will be the day where it will be decided if we have a winner or go into a run-off election.

For election day, Maverick County Elections Administrator Roy Schmerber has announced that the polling sites for election day have been consolidated from 14 sites to 8.

Precinct 1A,1B,1C, will all be voting at Memorial Junior High School located at 1800 Lewis St.

Precinct 2A and 2B will be voting at the San Luis Elementary located 2090- A Williams St.

Precinct 2C will vote at Rosita Valley Elementary located at 735 Rosita Valley Rd.

Precinct 2D will be voting on El Indio Community Center located at 115 West Tx. St.

Precinct 3A and 3B will vote at Seco Mines Elementary located at 2900 Diaz St.

Precinct 3C will vote at the Quemado Community Center located at 20160 U.S. HWY 277.

Precinct 4A, 4B, 4C, will be voting at the Eagle Pass High School Girls Gym on 2020 Second St.

Pct 4D will vote at the Henry B. Gonzalez Elementary located at 400 Balcones Blvd.

Voting will be taking place from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

There are 8 candidates on the ballot including Democrats Pete Gallego, Roland Gutierrez, Tomas Uresti, and Charlie Urbina Jones, Republican Jesse “Jay” Alaniz, Republican Pete Flores, Republican Carlos Antonio Raymond, and Libertarian Tony Valdivia.

The candidates respectfully ask for you to take the time and go out and vote.
