Less than two weeks after two individuals were arrested for drag racing on Veterans Boulevard another has been detained by Eagle Pass Police officials.
Reports from EPPD state that at around 5:39 am on Sunday, June, 24 an Eagle Pass man identified as 19-year-old Brandon Emilio Gonzalez was arrested by police for leading them on a car chase after he was caught playing races on Veterans Boulevard and eluded arrest earlier.
EPPD Information Officer Humberto Garza reported that Gonzalez was driving a gray Ford Mustang when he was spotted driving at high rates of speed. Officers attempted to stop Gonzalez but he was able to escape.
Police officials encountered the vehicle once again on Veterans Boulevard and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle then led officers in a high – speed pursuit which ended in the 2400 block of Main St. when the vehicle collided with a concrete curb rendering it inoperable.
Gonzalez was detained and remanded to the Eagle Pass Police Department where he was processed and later presented and later presented before a magistrate where he was formally charged.
Gonzalez is now facing a 3rd- degree felony for evading arrest and detention in a vehicle and racing on a highway/street, a class b misdemeanor.
He was then transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $3,500 bond combined for both charges.
A 19- year-old female passenger was also detained but later released.
