The Eagle Pass Fire Department (EPFD) responded to a 911 emergency call in an area off Veterans Boulevard regarding an infant that was not breathing, on Friday, June 15 2018.
Upon arrival at the scene EPFD crews found a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper already at the scene and performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation(CPR).
EPFD Fire Chief Manuel Mello states that the DPS officer was able to revive the child who was then transported to a San Antonio, Hospital for further treatment.
Chief Mello wants to take the time to thank that officer who jumped to that call of duty and saved a young life.
“ I do want to take the time to ask the community to be careful around swimming pools of any kind. These areas are dangerous for children especially if left unattended. It just takes a few minutes for a tragedy to occur,” said Mello.”We need to know that a child can drown in a body of water even one foot deep.”
Chief Mello asks the community to be vigilant as the Summer season is underway and thousands of children are out on vacations from school.
