Illegal aliens discovered in South Texas human smuggler stash house (Press Release)

EAGLE PASS, Texas — During the execution of an enforcement action Thursday, law enforcement authorities discovered 47 smuggled illegal aliens hidden in a suspected stash house awaiting transportation from their human smugglers.

On June 14, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Border Patrol with assistance from the Eagle Pass (Texas) Police Department identified a suspected stash house operating out of a residence in Eagle Pass. A total of 35 illegal aliens were discovered inside the residence after the Eagle Pass Police Department received a 911 call from the location. A subsequent investigation determined another 12 illegal aliens, who were arrested earlier that day by the Border Patrol, had been transported from the residence.

HSI special agents arrested three U.S. citizens. All three are facing federal human smuggling charges.

The 47 individuals included men, women and children from Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, Colombia and Nicaragua.

This is an HSI-led investigation with the assistance of CBP’s Border Patrol and Eagle Pass (Texas) Police Department.

Members of the public who notice suspicious activity should contact ICE on its toll-free tip line at 1-866-DHS-2-ICE, or submit a tip at the following website: http://www.ice.gov/tips.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office, Western District of Texas, is prosecuting the criminal case.

A criminal complaint is merely a charge and should not be considered as evidence of guilt. The defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
