Another tragic accident has occurred on N Highway 277 in Maverick County claiming the life of a female identified as 50 year old Norma Ninfa from Eagle Pass, Texas.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) issued out a statement on the fatal accident.
“We’re investigating a three vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Wednesday, May 2 at approximately 9:36 on U.S 277 approximately 8 miles north of Eagle Pass-Maverick County.
A 2002 Ford Mustang (occupied by two only) was traveling southbound on U.S. 277 behind a 2017 Nissan Sentra (occupied by one only).The Sentra struck the rear right of the Ford causing it to lose control and go into a side skid onto the northbound lane.
A 2016 International truck tractor trailer (occupied by one only) was traveling northbound and struck the Ford on its rear right.The Ford then engulfed in flames.Driver of the Ford was transported to Ford Duncan Medical Center and was later air lifted to a San Antonio Hospital in critical conditions.
Norma Ninfa, 50, a resident of Eagle Pass-passenger of the Ford was pronounced deceased. DPS Troopers are further investigating this fatal crash.
Maverick County Sheriff Pct. 3 Constables, Texas Department of Public Safety and Eagle Pass Fire Department responded to the accident scene.
Together they collaborated in assuring the scene and controlling all aspects of the tragic incident.
The male driver of the Mustang identified as 57 Year old Juan Manuel Pina was rushed to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center emergency room for treatment. He was later transferred to a San Antonio, Texas Hospital.
The Highway area remained closed from traffic for various hours while the investigation was concluded.
The other individuals involved in the accident did not suffer any serious injuries.
