Sheriff’s Department responded to Attempted Suicide in Northside of Maverick County

The Maverick County Sheriff and Eagle Pass Fire Department responded to an emergency call regarding an attempted suicide on Tuesday, April 10 at approximately 8:45 PM.

A call came in to the fire department emergency services reporting that an individual had attempted to take his own life by sliding his wrist with a sharp object unknown at the time.

Both departments responded immediately to an area along Deer Run Boulevard in the North side of town.

Upon arriving to the scene, they made contact with various individuals that led them to a male subject who was bleeding from his wounds. EMS immediately started treatment on the injured man.

The male individual was then transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center Emergency Room for further treatment and was admitted into the hospital for his wounds.

Maverick County Chief of Deputies Roberto De Leon stated that the individual was expected to fully recover from the self-inflicted wounds. And that the incident had been turned over to the Camino Real Mental Health services to assist the individual.

“We do ask anyone going through any type of ordeal that may lead you down such path to please reach out for help by calling 1-800-273-8255. You can always call out to the Maverick County Sheriff Department and we will send help to be there for you.” said De Leon
