Maverick County Sheriff’s Dept responds to fire at county line

The Maverick County Sheriff Department and Eagle Pass Fire Department responded to an emergency call at around 1:35 am on Friday, March 9 on N. Highway 277 headed towards Del Rio involving an18 wheeler that had a tire explosion causing a fire.

The 18 wheeler driver called 911 seeking assistance.He reported that the trucks trailer was engulfed in flames.

The Sheriff’s Department headed out towards the incident and proceeded to request for assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Upon arrival to the scene deputies found that the driver had detached the Truck from its trailer. The trailer was completely engulfed.

The Eagle Pass Fire Department were on hand for more than 6 hours assuring that the fire did not spread and cause any other problems.

The fire was caused by the exploding tire which then caught fire quickly spreading to the trailers compartment.
