Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce Director Sandra Martinez is announcing the International Friendship Festival Scheduling.
Martinez states that the 2017 Eagle Pass International Friendship Festival will kick-off on Friday, March 16, 2018 with the traditional Abrazo Ceremony between representatives of the cities of Eagle Pass, Texas and our sister city, Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico. This event will be taking place at the Eagle Pass International Bridge No. 1 at 5:30 pm.
The 10-day Festival will take place from March 16 through the 25th stated Martinez.
That same day there will be the traditional Abrazo Dinner to be held at the Historical Fort Duncan Ruins, located on Bliss Street starting at 7:30 p.m.
A new event will be added to the lineup on March 17. The City will host the Skate Park Ribbon Cutting & First Annual International Skateboard Competition at the EP Skate Park on North Flowers Street at 10:00 a.m.
During the 10 day period the chamber has a bevy of events going on including on March 18 – Amistad Bowling Tournament (Desert Lanes, 1:00 p.m.), March 18 – Fiesta 5K Olé Run – San Juan Plaza at 6:00 p.m., March 21 – International Burrito-Eating Contest – Mia’s Restaurant at 5:30 p.m., March 21 – Outdoor Movie Night – San Juan Plaza at 8:00 p.m., March 24 – Parade “Where Yee-Hah Meets Olé” – Downtown from Main Street @ Commercial to end at Ceylon Street @ Ford Street – 11:00 a.m., March 24 – Mayors Friendship Reception – Historic Eagle Pass Library at 12:00 p.m., March 25 – International Elementary Mini Golf Tournament – Mini Golf Facility at 10:00 a.m.
The Amusement Carnival will run from March 16 – 25th. Martinez states that pre-sale tickets for the carnival are available at a 50% discount (20 tickets for $10) at the Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce, located at 400 Garrison Street, from today until March 16. Noches Mexicanas which is sponsored by the Eagle Pass Evening Lions Club will be held during March 22 – 24 at Shelby Park. There will be food, refreshments, music, booths, and entertainment for the entire family.
