Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber reported that 39-year-old Frank Velasquez Jr. was arrested under charges of sexual assault of a minor on Tuesday January 9, 2018. Schmerber states that the Sheriff Department and the United States Marshalls Office executed a Warrant of Arrest apprehended Velasquez on the charge.
This arrest stems from an incident that was reported last week to the Maverick County Sheriff Department.
The Sheriff’s Department has begun an inquiry/investigation into a possible aggravated sexual assault against a 5-year-old female child by an adult.
The incident is reported to have occurred on Wednesday January 3, 2017.
The child had been taken to a San Antonio area hospital to undergo the RAINN examinations. DNA evidence from a crime like sexual assault can be collected from the crime scene, but it can also be collected from your body, clothes, and other personal belongings. You may choose to have a sexual assault forensic exam, sometimes known as a “rape kit,” to preserve possible DNA evidence and receive important medical care.
These examinations are done to either confirm or rule out this type of allegations or crime.
