The Eagle Pass Fire Department and Maverick County Sheriff’s Department at 11:50pm on December 25, 2017, responded to an emergency call in the Old Uvalde Road area (FM 481).
Upon arrival emergency crews found two vehicles completely engulfed in flames. The vehicles had been involved in a head on collision, the vehicles involved were a late model Mercedes-Benz and a late model Ford Expedition.
The Eagle Pass Fire Department began rescue efforts and were able to extract the victims from the fiery wreck. Sadly two individuals, a male and a female perished in the accident.
Unofficial information states that the male is a U. S. Border Patrol agent, three other females traveling as passengers in the Ford Expedition were taken to Uvalde Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained.
Upon arrival at Uvalde Memorial Hospital one of the females, succumbed to her injuries sustained during the accident.
