City of Eagle Pass approves reappointment of Municipal Judge and Assistant Municipal Judge

The City of Eagle Pass City Council approved the reappointment of Municipal Court Judge Francisco Martinez,III, and Assistant Municipal Court Judge Tere Melendrez Gomez at their special meeting held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017.

During the meeting, Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English Cantu requested that the item be taken into executive session so that the council could consult and discuss as to the terms to the appointments and action to be taken.

Once back in open session, Mayor Cantu opened up the agenda item no.9 for discussion.

“After reviewing the resolutions for appointments we are recommending the approval of the resolutions with modifications for consideration of the city council. One, reappointing the Municipal Court Judge of the City of Eagle Pass, Francisco Martinez, III, to remain in the position.with an increase of the initial salary on this position from $85,000 per year to $88,000. We also will be recommending the re-appointment of assistant Municipal Court Judge Melendrez with an increase from $250 to $500 on the one weekend that is worked by the assistant judge.”

There were no further discussion on the matter which was then put up for a vote.

The Eagle Pass City Council voted in favor of the proposed re-appointments and salary increases and modifications on the resolutions
