As per a Press Release by the Eagle Pass ISD, school district police, Eagle Pass Police Department, and local Fire Department responded to a supposed explosive device left in front of the School District Service Center early Saturday morning.
At approximately 1pm on September 23, 2017 the Laredo Bomb Squad disposed of what was believed to be an explosive device left at the gates of the Eagle Pass ISD District Service Center offices. The device resulted being a metal replica of a hand grenade. Law Enforcement Officials took every precautionary measure to ensure the safety of employees, community members and themselves in the process of deescalating the situation. Although it turned out to be a false alarm, the underlying issue continues to be worrisome due to a note left by the perpetrator or perpetrators. The note was addressed to Superintendent and a Mr. Mijares. The note read, “Mihares, Superintendent pull please.”
Law enforcement officials will continue to investigate any leads in the matter.
