Eagle Pass City Council extends contract with EMC Strategies Group

The Eagle Pass City Council held a meeting on Tuesday September 12, 2017 in which they discussed the possible extension of the services contract between the City and EMC Strategy Group, LLC for Economic & Business Development. The item was discussed in executive session pursuant to Section 551.071 Chapter 551 Texas Government Code (Consultation with Attorney over contracts and agreements).

Once back in open session Mayor Ramsey E. Cantu opened up the item and passed the duties to city Legal Counsel Heriberto Morales.

“The council will consider authorizing the city manager to negotiate the terms of a contract with EMC Strategy Group LLC for an additional 6 month period at a flat rate of $5,000 per month this includes mileage expenses and everything discussed in executive session. And for the entity to focus on economic development to the city, have legal review, check contract for legality and include standard city addendum and authorize the city manager to execute once finalized.” said Morales

Council woman Gloria Hernandez then motioned to approve seconded by Councilman Rudy Villalpando. Mayor Cantu then asked if there was any further discussion over the item which had none. The contract extension with EMC was then approved on a unanimous vote.

Up to now EMC Strategy Group has assisted the city in establishing the Business Economic Development Committee which is a city initiative in conjunction with 45 volunteers/stakeholders from the community .

EMC Strategy Group, LLC is a San Antonio based consulting firm with operations in Austin, TX and Washington, DC. Comprised of Janice M. and Ernie Gonzalez a husband and wife team with years of experience in government, nonprofit and private sector”

Services offered by EMC Strategy Group include: strategic planning, board development, governance/leadership training, total financial development, special event planning, recruiting/staff retention, staff training, staff accountability, government relations, customer relations, business development, marketing and communications, brand protection, relationship building and campaign management.

EMC currently represents the city of Freer and San Diego, Texas.
