The City of Eagle Pass have come to terms and an agreement with the Texas Department of Public Safety under an interlocal cooperation contract to purchase evidence kits to be used by the Eagle Pass Police Department during their recent meeting held on Monday August 14, 2017.
During the discussion and presentation portion of the agenda item Eagle Pass Police Chief Albert Guajardo addressed the interlocal agreement and gave a rundown of what it would consist of. “We’ve been under this agreements for approximately 4 years.
It’s basically a special evidence gathering kit that is utilized for investigations when we need to conduct an investigation. When we need to draw a specimen, more specifically blood from a suspect that needs to be submitted to the laboratory in Austin.”
Guajardo recommended that the city approve the standing contract as the department has been utilizing and working with DPS for the past 4 years in obtaining the kits. After no further discussion the Eagle Pass City Council approved the agenda item unanimously.
