City of Eagle Pass held second reading of ordinance to create committee to make recommendations for annexation

The Eagle Pass City Council held a meeting on Monday August 14th in which they approved the second reading of an ordinance creating a committee to review, analyze and make recommendations regarding expanding the city’s corporate boundaries by annexation.

The city is setting up a committee to begin annexing certain properties into the city’s corporate boundaries with the intent promoting the sound growth of the City and the provision of municipal services are of great importance to the City of Eagle Pass, Texas (“City”). The City seeks to create a committee to review, analyze and make recommendations regarding expanding the city’s corporate boundaries by annexation.

Annexations are governed by procedures and practices set forth in Chapter 43 of the Texas Local Government Code, the City’s Code of Ordinances and the City Charter.

The members of the Annexation Committee of the City of Eagle Pass are as follows

1.City Manager;

2.Director of the Planning Department;

3.Director of the Public Works;

4.Director of the Finance/Comptroller;

5.Police Chief;

6.Fire Chief;

7.General Manager of the Eagle Pass Water Works;

8.Councilmember Place 4;

9. The Mayor.
