TxDOT reports of Motor Vehicle Accidents show increase

The new 2016 Texas Department of Transportation CR3 reports for Maverick County show a 7 % decrease in motor vehicle accidents during 2016 as compared to the previous year 2015. The report does show an increase in auto accident fatalities during that time period.

During 2016 TXDOT reported a total of 795 motor vehicle accidents in Maverick County as compared to the previous year 2015 with 854 MVA’s a decrease of 51 less MVA’s. There were 844 MVA’s reported in Maverick County during 2014. Reports further show that during 2016 there were 27 Driving Under the Influence (DUI) related accidents in Maverick County accounting for 3 % of all total accidents (795).

During 2015 there were 37 DUI related accidents accounting for 4% of all total accidents that year (854). In 2014 TXDOT reported 40 DUI related motor vehicle accidents or 4.7 % of all accidents that year. During 2016 there were 10 MVA related fatalities with 2 of them being caused in a DUI related accident.

There were 8 deaths reported in 2015 but no DUI accident related deaths reported during that time. There were 6 fatalities reported in 2014 with 1 fatality related to a Driving Under the Influence Accident. The CR3 reports show that during 2016 at least 133 were reported injured in the 795 motor vehicle accidents with at least 13 with incapacitating injuries. The reports show that during 2016 there were 17 speed related motor vehicle accidents with 2 deaths, six injuries and another 2 incapacitating injuries attributed to them in Maverick County.

During 2015 there were 13 accidents reported that were attributed to speeding. Law Enforcement officials ask you to take precautions when driving and to always make sure that you buckle up and drive safely.
