The Eagle Pass Police Department responded to 7 motor vehicle accidents within a 24 hour period from Monday July 17th to Tuesday July 18th am hours. A review of the EPPD daily activity reports show that three of the 7 accidents occurred in heavily trafficked streets including one on Bibb St, Main St., and on North Veterans Blvd.
One of the incidents was a hit and run reported on Bibb St.
Eagle Pass Police Department Peace Officer attempted to perform a traffic stop on a vehicle at around 2:46am when the vehicle driver refused to stop and then led the Police Department on a short chase through Main Street.
A few minutes later the vehicle was stopped and the subject was in police custody.
The individual was then arrested and will be charged for Evading Arrest and for Driving While Intoxicated.
Law enforcement officials ask the community to be careful especially during the summer vacation time and advise that if you’re going to drink to please not get behind the wheel of a car and drive.
